Specialized Equine Services and Therapeutic Riding
Equine Therapy is a widely used therapeutic tool for the physically handicapped, as well as for treating a wide variety of psychological and mental disorders.
When riding a horse, the human body moves as it does when walking. The slow, rhythmic motion of a horse stimulates the body and works the rider's muscles in a manner similar to the human stride. This repetitive motion cannot be duplicated in any clinical setting. Our therapeutic riding instructors combine riding skills with lesson plans designed to enhance the physical, cognitive and emotional well being of our riders.
Ramona Twellman is a PATH Certified Riding Instructor and an International Society of Rider Biomechanics Coach.
Mission
Our mission as Specialized Equine Services is
to provide exceptional therapeutic services, through trained
accredited and dedicated professionals and volunteers, improving the
quality of life for those in Southern Illinois.
